Midview teachers strike halts district operations

In the rural Midview School District nearly all of the 300 teaching and non teaching personnel walked out this morning causing school to halt. About 180 teachers plus bus drivers and other staff picketed at dawn. Only a minority of students attended classes and no buses ran today. The district planned to keep schools open with supervisors and substitutes if needed. A MEA strike vote passed 119 to 42 while CAPSE reported an overwhelming 80 percent turnout for the non teaching staff. The board denied any informal last offer and no court action was planned at this time.
