Debits Reach 10 Month High in Cleveland Fed Figures
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland reports August debits to demand deposits across 32 Fourth District centers totaled 10 096 959 000, up 2 percent from August 1953 but down slightly from July. Among the 10 largest centers Columbus and Dayton show gains vs last year, while Elyria declines 7.9 percent and Lorain 2 percent.

State treasurer Roger W. Tracy reported the week ending Sept 4 set a new fiscal year high in sales tax receipts at 3,618,287, up 9.05 percent from a year earlier and 19.9 percent above the week ending Aug 28.
