Court to hear her voting name suit Oct. 26

A three judge panel will hear Elyria resident Raye Bail 31 seek to vote under her own name rather than her husband’s in Lorain County elections. Bail, a vocational rehabilitation counselor, changed no name after marriage to Don Norris Bec in 1975 and seeks to remove recently married women from voter rolls. The suit names state and local election officials and asks Ohio Revised Code changes to allow re registration under married names. The case follows a June ruling allowing Bail to vote under her surname in a local primary. Bail is represented by the Women’s Law Fund with Charles Guerrier.
