Two tropical disturbances near Atlantic on verge of depressions
Two disturbances in the Atlantic near Cabo Verde and northeast of the Bahamas show potential to strengthen into tropical depressions or storms. The first has an 80 percent chance in 48 hours and 90 percent in five days, with uncertain tracks and possible Saharan dust interference. The second system is likely to develop in days and move northward from its position near the central Bahamas.

Nicholas Lingers Over Gulf Intensifies Ida Recovery Struggle
Tropical low Nicholas hovered over Louisiana on Wednesday delaying recovery from Ida. Flash flood warnings extended into parts of Alabama and northwest Florida as heavy rain, up to 6 inches with isolated 10 inches, drenched the region. Power outages persisted in Texas and Louisiana, with Houston and New Orleans area still affected as Nicholas slowly dissipates into a remnant low.
