CCC Youth Is Fatally Hurt in Rural Crash Near Urbana
One member of the civilian conservation corps was killed and five others were injured when an automobile struck a bridge abutment three miles north of Urbana at 5 30 a m today. George Sailor 21 of Mark Center died en route to the Champaign County hospital. Injured were Earl Willard 19 Napoleon fractured arm hip and ankle Earl Osborn 18 Holgate cuts and foot injuries Garry Gunther 19 Napoleon hip fracture cuts and possible internal injuries John Sweener 19 Cleveland cuts and bruises Elmer S Brantley 18 Hicksville cuts. All were taken to the hospital. The youths were from CCC camp Co 533 Brean Park Yellow Springs O they were returning to camp after a 72 hour leave. The driver is believed to have fallen asleep. J owner David H Moore found Sailor died an accidental death. ambulances and medical officers from the CCC camp were to move the injured to Fort Harrison Columbus later today.

Landslide Destroys Burlington Train Near Fort Madison
A landslide of earth and rock struck a Burlington train near Fort Madison Iowa as it neared the city. The locomotive and tender were hurled into the Mississippi while three cars derailed, the rest stopping on the track. Engineer B Wene and fireman J Cole were swept into the river but escaped to shore. The train was traveling from St Louis to Burlington when the landslide hit at a bluff base, burying some cars and scattering debris.
