The former county recorder Frank Irish had his parole request denied by Judge A. Webner after pleading guilty to embezzling $1,100. Irish will serve a year in prison. he was taken to the county jail and will be moved to Columbus tomorrow. The court heard many friends urge parole, but author- ity declined.
Chicago reports that the U S round-the-world flyer hop to Omaha was postponed to tomorrow after a second test flight by an air malple flagged very low visibility and extremely hazardous flying conditions.
Rives C. Rowe aged 88 died yesterday at his daughter Sybil Gleason's home in Cleveland. He leaves daughters Sybil Gleason and Stella Hardy. A veteran of the 16th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, he belonged to Richard Allen Post G A R. Funeral services Wednesday at 3 pm at Sudro Funeral Home, conducted by Rev W L Burner, with burial at Butternut Ridge cemetery.
Boston report says Cant Chas I Bloomquist of the ferry Ashburnham died in the pilothouse when it collided with the ferry Newtown in fog. Ashburnham crew brought to dock. cause under investigation. Death attributed to heart disease. In Westbury, Malcolm Stevenson, polo star for the American team, injured last weekend at Meadowbrook Field. will miss today’s match against the British invaders.
The La Follette and Lorain clubs met in Elyria last evening to hear progress reports and elect county officers. A. S. Kurtz of Lorain was named president, Chas H. Korp of Elyria vice president, W. W. Busvik of Elyria secretary, Ed McGuire of Lorain treasurer. An executive board including H. Lee Gilmore and J. C. Bins was chosen as well as a new campaign committee to expand in the district.
The council heard a report by H Whitford Jones on the Ohio Public Service Co lighting. He said the city used many higher wattage bulbs than specified, increasing monthly bills by 119.17 dollars. The firm allegedly billed for larger lights for four years, delaying total program completion. A rebating option for back charges may exist.
In Flint Michigan on September 16 a 17 month old baby was held naked over a hot cook stove to cure an illness. Neighbors heard agonizing cries and led to the arrest of mother Ella Rice 20 and Lillian Wilson 38 on child cruelty suspicions. The child lay near death with severe burns. Husbands of both women to face charges later today. The incident occurred at the Wilson farm.
The grand jury opened this morning and will handle about fifty cases over the week. Eighteen are set for today, eight for tomorrow, three for Thursday, eight for Friday, with others unassigned. John Faxon named foreman.

Attorney Henry W Ingersoll recounts a Painesville business trip where his bright car drew a goat to the running board. The animal allegedly butt its own reflection, stamping and tilting until the car needed refinishing, a tale he calls the truth.
On the second day of Ohio’s squirrel season, two hunters are dead and four wounded by shotgun fire. Charles Wiley of McClainsville died when his gun discharged while he climbed a tree near Morristown. William Baker, a 16 year old from Washington Court House, died after a friend mistook him for a squirrel near Frankfort. Pearl Baldwin of Zanesville and William Dickinson of Zanesville were wounded in the face, neck and leg, respectively, from misidentification of a hand on a tree as a squirrel. J. G Holzworth of Alliance was taken to a Wheeling hospital for treatment. Herman Murie of Dillonvale was shot in the head near Cadiz when mistaken for a groundhog by G W Fennes Tiltonville.
Miss Lucille Hessian of Cleveland suffered a broken arm and broken rib when an enclosed delivery truck from Findlay skidded into the rear of her Chevrolet near Oberlin. The impact telescoped the rear seat. the truck overturned in a ditch. No other serious injuries reported. The Cooper Tire Company of Findlay owned the truck.
The report says Dr Dansan, premier of Mongolia, was assassinated by Bolshevist Mongols. Chihli forces clash with Feng Tien troops near Chao Yang as Chang Tso Lin plans to take personal command from Mukden. Hoovers warns US oriental trade will dip temporarily due to China war while Admiral Washington meets in Peking.
In Sedam county court Vera Konzar claims she married John Kolezar in 1918 and seeks divorce alimony and custody of a child from the second marriage after alleging neglect and slander. Amelia Buller accuses Harry Buller of gross neglect and cruelty dating to 1919, alleging lack of support and property damage while living at Eloerta Beach, asking relief from the marriage.
The Logan Gas Co refused to extend gas service to Clarence Baker on Oxford street until a city rate contract is settled. Beech Street residents also lack gas on one side, though the company serves the opposite curb. Council moves to charge the firm to court to enforce franchise obligations and curb “hold up” tactics.
The Rotary Club heard Logan Gas Co. representative Thomas H. Parkins on Elyria gas shortages and future needs. He argued Ohio fields are depleted and towns may rely on manufactured gas, noting 500000 acres leased near Coshocton. Wells to 4500 feet and new distribution needed, costs to be paid by residents. He said city service may end without higher rates and previewed a council request for a raise.
Julius Davis, former Oberlin merchant, files a $23,000 damage suit against Louis Burgner and local insurers and real estate man. Davis says on July 15, 1923 Burgner maliciously charged him with arson before Mayor H. F. Smith, leading to a warrant, arrest in Cleveland, transfer to Oberlin, a $2,500 bond, grand jury indictment, and eventual acquittal, with alleged ruin of his business and suffered mental and physical harm.
In Wheeling West Virginia on September 16 a car carrying Harry Grise Thomas Penbaker and Edward Conner left the National Road near the Pennsylvania line plunging over a bridge end into a creek. Deputies found them unconscious and rushed to a hospital. their recovery is not expected.

Judges credited overall quality, thanked sponsors and helpers, and listed prize winners across categories such as Public Best, Best display assets, and Artistic arrangement.
