Murray Ridge faces shutdown if levy fails

Lorain County Board of Mental Retardation warned that a 1.5 mill levy failure in November would halt Murray Ridge School and the nearby adult workshop by June. Over 200 mentally retarded children are enrolled at Murray Ridge, with about 400 adults employed at the workshop and 200 more aided by the program each year. The board’s 1.2 mill levy expires in December, and without replacement, funds will run out as the $1.4 million surplus is exhausted.
