Priorities set for 47 HUD projects in Lorain County

Lorain County governments identify 47 projects seeking more than 12 million dollars in federal HUD funding. Gas shortage looms as Lorain plants face layoffs

Drastic cutbacks in production and employment may hit Lorain County plants this winter due to gas supply curtailment. Wellington faces $227000 in tardy street assessments

Wellington Village may owe $227,000 for 13 year street improvements completed over two years ago as Lorain County Auditor Joseph Mitock refused to certify the assessments to the tax duplicate. Legal opinion cited by Lorain County Prosecutor Grunda prompts delay. some owners already paid, others have not. If the ruling stands the village must secure funds to cover bonds held by EPA and the Veterans Administration and Federal Housing Authority loans carry no unpaid assessments on deeds.
