WJKW TV Channel 8 will switch to the WIW call letters on Monday after the WIW Radio sale. Station officials hope the change aids recognition with three easier letters, while remaining signage will retain old letters briefly. General manager C David Whitaker says the change should boost viewer recall.
Channel 8 changed to WIKW in 1977 after WJW Radio’s call letters moved with Art Modell group. WOIO Channel 19 wins OSU-Pitt game and eyes five more college telecasts, with CBS first rights possible. WEWS weather plans keep Daniel Mary as interim forecaster through November as Dan Dobrowolski departs.
