NUMBER THREE continues as the enlarged band will not alter the drum major’s role. Brown’s size is near last year’s drum major Donald Hensman, with only slight uniform changes needed. The nine girls have practiced for two weeks, prior to the parade today for marching drill, Beck says. Only about a third have prior band experience. They rehearse with the band but cannot play Friday night due to missing uniforms. Some boys face the same issue as the band has 50 uniforms for 65 members once all places are filled.
