CHICAGO (UPI) Church officials said it is unclear if Helen Dolan Wilson, a lifelong friend of Cardinal John Cody, worked for the archdiocese while being paid from a Cody controlled account. U.S. Attorney Dana Webb confirmed an investigation into possible diversion of up to $1 million in tax exempt church funds for Wilson and Cody’s circle.

Lorain officials greeted with years in prison for graft
Former Lorain public service director Elio Jacobozzi and business associate Cleon Elliott were sentenced to up to 110 years in Columbus Correctional Facility by Judge Richard M. Markus. Jacobozzi, 51, convicted of two unlawful public contract counts and perjury, received concurrent terms totaling 2 to 15 years plus 1 to 10 years. Elliott, found guilty of grand theft, complicity to unlawful contract, and perjury, faced 1 to 5 years on two counts and 1 to 10 years on perjury, all to run concurrently. A motion for a new trial by Elliott’s attorney was filed on newly discovered evidence weeks before sentencing.

Controller charge dismissed in Elyria air strike case
The government dropped felony charges against Robert Wilson of Elyria, once a leader in Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization Local 203, who faced prosecution for striking against the federal government during the Oberlin FAA center walkout. Lunch program may starve Westlake schools if consumption fails
Superintendent Roger L Holmes warned the Westlake district may drop its federally subsidized hot lunch program unless student sales rise.
