Lorain County farm outlook improves despite harvest troubles
Ohio farmers see prices rise to 106 percent of pre war levels as hog and wheat markets rebound. Heavy rains delay wheat harvest, causing discounts up to 30 cents a bushel for late-threshed grain. Average Ohio wheat yield about 20 bushels per acre, oats badly damaged, corn still green and needing frost-free weather. Pastures are good, hay demand dull, soybeans promising though pod setting uneven. Protein feeds near 1931 prices with strong mill feed demand. Dairy yields lag national averages. Jersey cows and overall herd production cited for 1934 averages.

AAA Officials Say Contracts Aim At Wheat Crop Balance
Agricultural Adjustment Administration officials say the 1936 to 1939 wheat adjust ment contract allows farmers to reduce acreage toward balancing national wheat production with market demand. They note 1930-32 averaged 66 million acres and, with normal yields, would yield about 825 million bushels annually, suggesting current plantings exceed market capacity at profitable prices.

Wheat acreage plans amid rust damage and export doubts
AAA officials say U S wheat consumption runs about 625 million bushels yearly and 50 090 060 acres at average yields could supply that need. They note the export market has dwindled and estimate feasible exports at 75 to 100 million bushels annually. Producing this on 6 to 8 million acres would leave 56 to 58 million acres for domestic and foreign needs, with 1936 acreage not far below the 1930 32 base due to rust damage in July.
