NOAA chief calls Dorian Alabama comment politics in science row
Acting NOAA chief scientist Craig McLean said the agency probably violated science integrity rules last week by rebuking the Birmingham weather office for saying Alabama was safe from Hurricane Dorian. Two top NOAA civil servants criticized an unsigned release as political while defending the office action. The Weather Service head defended the Alabama office saying they did what any office would to protect the public.
