Nixon and labor chiefs discuss post freeze policy plan

Federal judge signs an injunction at Attica State Correctional Facility forcing officials to refrain from administrative reprisals against rioting inmates. About 30 hostages remain in Cellblock D as negotiations potential, while 500 inmates still in two blocks earlier, and clashes injure guards amid the blaze. Authorities report five buildings burned and demands include wage and reform calls.

Elyria council stalls West River Parkway plan again

At a joint meeting of three Elyria committees the West River Parkway project stalled amid heated discussion. A revised spending plan for $977000 in state Issue 1 funds was presented by Peter Van Wormer to approve an ordinance requesting funds. The proposal shifts to a bridge at Second Street with a Lorain Boulevard fork to ease the Lorain Boulevard Lake Avenue Lodi Street bottleneck, while county and state plans previously called for bridges at Second and Third Streets.
