Susan Yvonne Perkins of Columbus won the second Miss America Pageant preliminary talent contest in Atlantic City earning a $2,000 scholarship. Her Billie Holiday song Good Morning Heartache moved judges as Perkins, a 23 year old Miami of Ohio grad, fought tears to feel the emotion of her blues performance. The Miss America finals were set for tomorrow night.

Kenneth O'Donnell, JFK aide, dies in Boston at 53

FBI named James L. Turner, 29, as prime suspect in the armed last Friday robbery of the Northern Savings and Loan Co branch on Midway Mall Boulevard. A warrant is out for Turner’s arrest for armed bank robbery as authorities seek him at Elyria and Lorain addresses. The robber stole about $8,000, masked and armed, escaped in a blue Buick later found in Sheffield Township and returned to the owner.
