Ely Trust building sale talks in Elyria stalled at 180k
In 1985 the Ely Trust asked 180000 for the building and this year 90000. Ely city officials offered 55000 to 60000, rejected by trustees Irene Wallace and David George. Mayor Michael Keys noted future price drops to 25000 by 2000 and potential lease savings of 45000 to 50000. City may renegotiate before 2000 and could use or sublease the current station if a new $5 to $6 million station is built by 1996–97. The Ely Trust, created by William A. Ely’s will, involved Sally Ely and others until her 1993 death.
