Bible as Textbook Referendum Divides Clear Creek Voters
In Tiffin Iowa 2100 registered voters face a referendum on using the Bible as a supplemental textbook in the Clear Creek school district. Ian Johnson a University of Town law student champions the plan saying miracles may be needed for passage while opponents and the Iowa Civil Liberties Union warn it could violate constitutional rights and threaten court action. A high school forum drew national attention but little visible support for Johnson.
