Brazilian hijacker held in mental ward
A 26 year old Brazilian medical student, Paulo Manoel de Lima, hijacked a Varig Airlines Boeing 737 with 89 aboard and demanded to speak to President Joao Figueiredo to fund his Jerusalem pilgrimage. He surrendered after the plane landed near Sao Paulo and is now held under armed guard at a mental hospital. The doctor treating him said he should be admitted immediately.
