The Procrastinators Club urges celebration of National Be Late for Something Day by wearing old clothing and delaying prep for a banquet. President Leonard Waas says members range from professionals to decked with deadlines, praising procrastination as organized delay.
Moscow warned it would be free to place anti-satellite systems in space if the United States proceeds with an ASAT test. Tass cited the move as a step escalating the arms race, while US officials said the plan had little practical meaning as the US Air Force postponed its test to meet congressional notice requirements. The statement tied to a Shorbachev summit and hinted at page A-4 continuation.
Lorain County grand jury indicted Laurice Koury on 15 counts including theft forgery and perjury tied to the Ernest Nemeth estate. The charges allege theft of cash and jewelry from Nemeths Amherst home and an insurance check plus ten counts of perjury from 1983 to 1985 during probate proceedings.
Avon police probe into the stabbing deaths of former Avon Councilman Leonard DeChant and his wife Arlene continued as their son Greg, 21, was wounded. Investigators say two to three men entered through an unlocked front door, ransacked a bedroom, then fled in the DeChants 1978 Chrysler. Greg was hospitalized in fair condition.

Mt Jack's in Elyria set to reopen Friday after a June fire caused about 105000 in damages. The 10000 square foot restaurant was remodeled with a larger dining room, new wallpaper mirrors and brass fixtures. General Manager Bradley King said the interior will model future Mountain Jack's upgrades across the nation. The Lake Lorain Boulevard site is one of five in the Cleveland area, part of a 90 unit Vicorp Specialty Restaurants chain.
