Lorain County Baptist Church’s Pioneer History and Key Leaders

In 1838 a group led by Rev. C. C Coulrain formed a Freewill Baptist Church in Lorain County. Members worshiped in homes until Calvin Spencer built a schoolhouse for meetings, later replaced by a church building in 1906. The congregation left the Northern Baptist Convention in 1928, joining the Ohio Association of Independent Baptist Churches, led by Rev. L. W. Beckley with former pastors cited.
