Boy Hurt by Taxi in Elyria Collision
Kenneth Nowak, 11, of 235 Spruce Street, was in serious condition at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a taxi struck him at about 7:30 pm on Lake Avenue near Spruce Street. G. E. B. Dachtler, 506 Lodi Street, said he tried to avoid the boy. Nowak suffered a fractured right leg, possible skull fracture, and cerebral concussion. hospital later listed his condition as fair. Police report the cab’s governor limited to 40 mph and brakes were in good condition.

W R Welsh a 40 year old farmer living near Radnor captured the champion of champions title at the Ohio State Fair for a record fast time of six minutes 26 seconds in the sheep shearing contest. He previously won the state championship in 1934 and has shaved about 5,000 head last season. Second place went to William Locke 22 Clark county, third to Lawrence W Davis Richwood and fourth to Fred W Tuss ing Reynoldsburg. The junior champion was Eugene Campbell 18 Hopedale.

One Killed Five Hurt In Route 303 Crash
One person was killed and five members of a Hegewisch family were injured when their car left Route 303 three miles west of Pittsfield traveled 100 feet off the road and struck a tree at 6 am. The driver Gezyla Wisotsky, 32, was instantly killed. Injured were the driver’s parents Frank and Anna Wisotsky, two younger brothers Edward and Albert, and an aunt, all taken to Allen Memorial Hospital Oberlin. The county’s 42nd traffic death this year. Other local crashes left Lloyd Connene treated for injuries from a crash on Oberlin road and guard rail damage near Brookdale cemetery.
