At Pitchess Honor Rancho in Santa Clarita California a race driven riot erupted among 92 inmates after a dispute over phone use. 35 were injured and treated at three area hospitals for concussions stab wounds and cuts while the rest faced non life threatening injuries. Boy Dies After 600 Foot Fall in Water Pipe

A 12 year old boy died after tumbling 600 feet down an open 36 inch water pipe at a Bronx construction site. Rescuers spent 15 hours navigating sewage pipes with 150 personnel including Don Carroll and Anton Dennis as partners Giovanni Rios and the boy were trapped in a U shaped section. The fatal fall prompted a government inquiry into why the shaft was left open.
