Pottery Worker Rescued From Shale Tower Incident

Walter Myers, a Norwalk pottery worker, fell into a shale tower at Lavey Pottery on Route 113 near Milan while attempting to clear a jam. Firemen from Norwalk, Milan, and Sandusky aided a tense rescue. Johnnie Case, 32, of Clarksfield, credited with a major role. Myers was freed by 1:18 pm daylight time and taken to Norwalk Hospital in exhaustion, with preparations for possible surface opening and use of a vacuum to remove dust.
