County to fund $40,000 for Colorado Ave paving plan
County commissioners voted two to one to commit 40000 toward paving six miles of Colorado avenue from the Lorain city limits to Avon, with the balance raised by the State Highway department and the villages of Sheffield and Avon. The plan, a WPA project, aims to complete a 22 foot wide concrete road with total costs around 250000, state share preliminarily 100000, and local village pledges of 5000 from Sheffield and 3000 to 5000 from Avon as council considers. Commissioner Davidson opposed, saying county funds should not cover more than 25000 and that Colorado avenue remains a state responsibility. Dunn supported the move, noting the project would serve the new 21st street bridge and local access needs.
