Drought May Change Plans For Livestock
Ohio farmers may alter livestock plans due to drought impact on feed grains. Hog numbers rose 19 to 20 percent but higher corn costs may curb expansion. spring pig crop may market earlier with possible seasonal price shifts. Demand for meat could limit price declines. feeder cattle demand weaker due to feed costs, but finished cattle prices may rise late 1936 and into spring 1937. Barnes cautions against pessimism and notes Ohio feeders have better prospects than last year.
