Judge halts mourning dove hunting in Ohio
Ohio Supreme Court Justice Frank Celebrezze issued an alternative writ of prohibition blocking the mourning dove season that was set to begin today at noon. He said the hunting season will be stayed pending court disposition, while officials offered differing views on the writ and its effect. The suit argues the dove is a song bird protected by law, and the Division of Wildlife exceeded its authority placing it on the game bird list.
