Grafton Township Fire Department could not save either barn. The Palesco barn housed machinery, hay, and straw. rain aided efforts to save the silo and nearby structures. The Johnson home was endangered by sparks. The Palesco home burned years ago and remains unreplaced. The Johnson place is tenanted by the Ted Sayer family.

Man Thrown From Auto In Route 113 Crash
Edwin Hodgson the 21 year old of 815 Lake avenue sustained critical injuries after his eastbound car on Route 113 near Route 58 ran off the road traveled 170 feet along the shoulder left 96 feet of tire marks and struck a tree. Deputies said excessive speed caused the crash and Hodgson was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital with concussion and possible basal skull fracture in critical condition.
