Urge Forming Rural Section Of Elyria Township Into Village
A movement to incorporate the rural section of Elyria township into a village will be launched Friday evening at Lake Avenue School. The Elyria Tax League’s Mrs. Edward Burrer said residents hope to circulate a petition to place the measure before voters this November. Rural residents contend city officials predominate in township offices, leaving rural needs underrepresented. A prior attempt 12 years ago prompted a rural trustee arrangement, but the issue resurfaced as city influence recurred. Friday’s discussion will cover legal steps with E. C. Cotton and Elyria attorney Frank Wilford guiding the talk. The tax league committee includes Burrer, Cotton, Edward Barret, Louis Hecock, and Dick Johnston.
