Big Demand For Flour and Cloth To Be Distributed
Red Cross in this city reports a high need for flour and cloth. A carload of flour arrived Monday with 3200 sacks ready for distribution starting at 1:20 p m. During the afternoon 567 individuals received a sack each and 421 sacks were issued as bulk flour. A next distribution is set for 1:30 p m Friday, announced Red Cross chairman A L Werner. About 30,000 yards of cloth will be prepared for distribution, made from 500,000 bales of cotton given by the government. Gingham muslin outing flannel sheeting and birdseye will be used to make dresses shirts and night clothes for the needy. Edith Metcalf of Obertin will supervise cloth distribution and sewing groups will assist in turning cloth into apparel.

Another Large Gas Well Brought In In Carlisle District
A new gas well drilled this morning in the Carlisle district yielded a natural flow of 4,000,000 cubic feet daily. Belonging to C. A. McMillen and associates, mostly Elyrians, it is the second on leases from Steel and Tubes Co. Located on the Henry Schildt farm near Robinson road, it follows a nearby well on the Jackson farm that produced 3,900,000 feet. The 16 feet gas sand well is seen as excellent and the thirteenth producer for the McMillen interests. A further well is to begin on the Christ Poulsen farm on Grafton road.
