Elyria union and city open to renewed contract talks
Safety Service Director James Tracey says the city may reopen negotiations with District Council 78 about the contract for Local 277 encompassing about 145 city workers. The union ratified the deal on Sept. 6 by a 42-35 vote, while the council has approved pay scales but must address non pay items. Tracey reported the district's chief negotiator indicated changes to contract language. A meeting will be sought to determine if disputes are language related or due to misunderstandings of basic terms.
