Kent State professor helped defend abortion defendant
In Akron Ohio a Bowling Green Kentucky student faced 10 to 20 years for performing an abortion on herself. Kent State sociologist Dr Katherine van Wormer aided the defense to secure a not guilty by temporary insanity verdict after jury selection and analysis. The case drew nationwide attention and spurred talks to amend the Kentucky law.
