Lorain County Considers 2.5-Mill Operating Levy
Lorain County Commissioners at a meeting indicated an operating levy may be the sole solution to next year’s budget gap. They expect a quick decision on the levy amount, with estimates showing 2.5 mills needed to meet operating demands. The 1976 budget requests total 9.3 million dollars, about 3.5 million more than available without new revenue. A 2.5-mill levy would yield about 2.5 million annually, while a half-cent sales tax could bring in roughly 1.5 million.
