Mystery surrounds unconscious Oberlin coed in unexplained injury

County reaches 70 percent of UF goal

United Fund volunteers have raised 70.4 percent of their 1 550 000 goal in the 1971 drive. General campaign chair L Keith Smith reports 1 091 257 pledged so far at the third report meeting at 210 Sheffield Center. The drive began Oct 4 and ends next Thursday with a victory dinner. Funds support United Community Services of Greater Lorain County and 48 affiliated agencies.

Defeat Predicted for Gilligan Income Tax Plan in Senate

State Finance Director Harold Hovey said the Gilligan administration’s income tax package is inclined to be defeated on the Senate floor this afternoon. The measure faces Republican opposition and would require 17 votes for passage as House-Senate maneuvering continues.
