34 Killed In Mine Disaster At Wailer Field
In Dunferml ine Scotland on October 28 thirty four miners died when an explosion occurred during a blackout at Wailer Field Colliery seven miles from the town. About 110 miners were underground at the time. Some perished from burns while others from blast concussion. One worker saved two score colleagues by reaching a pump and supplying fresh air to trapped chambers.
