Frost May Have Damaged Late Crops In County
County agricultural extension agent C. J. Hummel noted a potential frost impact on late garden crops, estimating only a few still in ground may be damaged. He cited late bean plantings by a handful of farmers taking a risk for an early harvest as frost approached. Earlier light frosts caused little damage and are expected to ease digging conditions for Delpi potatoes still green.

Oberlin Professor Predicts Realignment in Major Parties
Oberlin College political science professor J. D. Lewis told the Public Affairs Society that a sharp realignment of groups in the upcoming campaign is underway. He compared 1940 to 1896, noting labor and unemployed workers rally behind Roosevelt and potential shifts toward a labor or farmer labor party, while the Democratic party may remain a coalition. Lewis also tied party evolution to economic recovery, reemployment, and breaking the view that representing a specific economic group makes a party un American.
