At a mass meeting in Penfield township, officials warned that the village and township schools face closure without additional funds. Superintendent Vaugh urged a tax levy increase, noting 78 elementary and 70 high school pupils with seven teachers. He said county help might cover costs only briefly if the levy fails.
The court heard the murder trial of Lazo T. with a knife fight disputed evidence on degree. After a four hour jury deliberation the verdict was returned and a motion for a new trial could be filed by Ral. Shi Red Nest Mond Webber.

George Johnson, colored, will be sentenced by Judge A Rh Webber this afternoon for manslaughter. He was found guilty by a jury on Tuesday in connection with the death of Bert Edwards, also colored, at the railroad camps here on September 27. The motion for a new trial was overruled yesterday afternoon by Judge Webber.
Canton Oct 28 McDermott has not confessed. Prosecutor McClintock and Ora Shater say the alleged trigger man in the July murder of Don K. Mellett did not divulge who killed Mellett or the crime circumstances. They add McDermott has given some information but cannot be divulged now and progress is satisfactory.
