In Chicago on October 7 a moving picture theater owner Albert Schmidt confronted Samuel Wertheimer over a fraud claim during a movie. Wertheimer entered the theater. shots injured Wertheimer and a panic spread as Schmidt shot himself, killing an officer. Six theater patrons were hurt.
Shanghai dispatch reports death of Central Changhai Shee commander of Cantonese forces allied with Wu Pei Fu in Changsha hospital. The souther warlord's death is confirmed by Sun Chungs-Fang. Belief grows that Cantonese troops suffered defeat and Wu Pei Fu plans potential attack on Hankow.
