Erie Canal aided by Seaway break the 160 year milestone
A tug will push two barges along the New York State Barge Canal from Oswego to Buffalo then to Cleveland to deliver a $13 million stamping press from GM. The move follows the St. Lawrence Seaway wall collapse at Welland Lock No. 7 halting seaway traffic. The Barge Canal remains open to commercial shippers while the seaway repairs are planned for November 6.
