North Ridgeville Republican Richard Noll accuses Mayor Floyd Peace and his libel suit over a October 10 campaign letter of trying to nullify voter impact. Peace seeks second term while debating timing and authorship questions loom.
Bruce Bishop, 19, of Livermore Lane, aided residents during a downtown blaze at 2 am in a 15-person building on Cedar Street. He sustained a cut leg while kicking doors and attempting to drag a burning chair to safety, while Donald Judge was helped from an attic apartment as the fire alarms rang and the incident unfolded.
A 1:30 a.m. fire at 124 Cedar Street in Elyria gutted a three story multi unit residence causing about 105000 dollars in damage. Two people hospitalized include firefighter John Zielinski and resident Monte Mokosh who jumped from a second floor window. Investigators say a cigarette ignited a chair on the first floor.
TV host Dick Cavett spoke at Lorain County Community College Stocker Center, joking about television being an atrociously limited medium and calling hosting the best job. The CT photo by Gene Krebs captures Cavett mid quip.
