Four men indicted by grand jury on 43 gambling charges

Lorain County Grand Jury returned forty three gambling charges against four men from Lorain and Elyria. Indictments stem from a three month undercover probe by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Stanley Sharkey and George Radich face multiple counts. Michael Elkovich and George Duff face several betting and bookmaking counts. Eddie Hoogenboom also faces related counts in Elyria Municipal Court. They will appear in Lorain County Common Pleas Court Tuesday.

Totie Fields Undergoes Right Breast Mastectomy

Comedienne Totie Fields, who had a left leg amputation 18 months ago and eye surgery five months ago, received a modified mastectomy after tests on Monday revealed a cancerous tumor. A hospital spokesman called the operation a success and said Fields should return home in five days.
