Sister defends brother amid murder case rumors in Avon

Elyria seeks delay on 18.3 million EPA grant

The city faces an October week deadline to accept an 18.3 million grant for about 39 million in Waste Water Pollution Control Plant improvements on Gulf Road. Mayor Keys said the EPA must grant more time to study conditions, as a federal suit over the plant continues.

Oberlin student dies after Pennsylvania border crash

Five Oberlin College students were involved in a two car collision near the Pennsylvania New York border Friday night. Wendy Danielson 17 of Cambridge Massachusetts died Monday at Westchester Medical Center. Mark Melchert 20 of Richmond Virginia remains critical at Horton Memorial Hospital. Eric Miller 19 of Middletown Connecticut is stable at Marcy Bryani tal Port Jervis New York. Meredith Kimber 17 of Marblehead Massachusetts is in fair condition at Children’s Hospital Boston. Mary Belfiore 21 from Washington DC was discharged from Mercy Hospital after head injury. Ron Kahn Oberlin professor and advisor described Danielson as gifted and caring. The accident occurred when Belfiore’s car was hit from behind by a pickup driven by Craig Lashway 24 of New Milford Connecticut at about 70 mph near Exit 11 eastbound Interstate 84. The rear impact pushed Belfiore into a guardrail. Lashway suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized overnight.
