Award Contract For Safest Chin Afloat Vessel
Washington, Oct. 22. Chairman Joseph P. Kennedy announced a contract for construction of the largest liner built in a North American shipyard. The United States Lines Co. and Newport News Shipbuilding will build the ship at 16 790 000 dollars, to be completed in 85 days. It will be 723 feet long, travel about 22 knots, and house about 1200 passengers with a crew of 630. The ship is subsidized, to be sold to United States Lines for 10 500 000 dollars after completion. The government covers the difference between estimated 15 750 000 and the sale price.

12 Elyria High Students to Take Exams at Oberlin
