GM site to get 7.3 million for cleanup in Elyria

The General Motors Fisher Guide plant on Lowell Street receives about 7.3 million from an environmental trust for maintenance and hazardous waste monitoring. OSU president lauds LCCC as 2010 scholars honored

Lorain County Community College hosts its Parade of Scholars with OSU President E. Gordon Gee and LCCC President Roy Church praising higher education. Dancers Plead No Contest in North Ridgeville Bar Case

Three dancers Alexandra Fracchione Amanda Kucinski and Sarah Satterfield pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct after accusations of exposing themselves and touching patrons at a bikini bar. Each was fined 50 and ordered to pay 100 to the Lee D?ancers. The fourth dancer plans to go to trial and the club manager seeks dismissal of his charges.

Lorain Schools faces bleak fiscal forecast before levy

Lorain Superintendent Cheryl Atkinson warned the district risks harming children if voters reject the 10-year 9.12-mill $6 million levy tied to a new high school by the Black River. Treasurer Dale Weber showed five-year projections with red ink, as residents weigh a $320 annual cost per $100,000 of home value.

Mazzola pleads not guilty to records charge over exotic animals

Sam Mazzola, owner of the bear involved in the Aug. 19 fatal mauling, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count for failing to maintain proper records on some exotic animals. He had planned a no contest plea but changed after a judge warned of possible jail time and fines up to 500 dollars. He said the issue is a records violation and not intentional, aiming to move on.
