Washington reports the Army raised the October rotation score from 36 to 38 points due to a manpower squeeze. GIs with fewer points must remain overseas longer, adding two weeks to two months to their tours. Gen. Mack W. Clark will decide November’s score whether to adjust again.
Ohio newspapermen tour the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station in Wooster to learn how researchers boost farm yields and food quality. The Lorain grand jury issued 13 true bills and four no bills from 17 cases this morning. One indictment was secret involving a forgery charge. Edward West faces a manslaughter count for the Maplewood Inn killing on July 5 and claims self defense with no witnesses besides his wife. Other indictments name William Rowe Stanley Bourgoin Albert Kerner Carlos Monserrate Ellis Christian and more. The panel expects additional cases before completion tomorrow.
Gov Adlai Stevenson plans a rear platform address from a special train at the New York Central Station at 4 05 p m tomorrow during a whistle stop across Ohio. The 15 minute stop precedes rallies in Buffalo and talks in Toledo and Sandusky with police ready to control crowds and rope off East Avenue and Depot streets for onlookers.
South Korean forces repelled a Red assault on Sniper Ridge amid driving rain and mud. Chinese troops advanced to grenade range but stalled, while heavy fog and rain hindered flare light. moonlight foggy night kept Iron Horse Mountains quiet as ROC forces held.
