The Elyria Woman's Club Inc. founded in 1908 to discuss suffrage remains active in civic work. Once 250 members strong, the group now operates behind the scenes, focusing on civics and community as it celebrates a centennial with events at Monteith Hall led by club president Emma Olds.
The Elyria Woman's Club at 218 East Ave. hosts a free open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 and an Edwardian Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 costing $15. Tickets can be obtained by calling (440) 322-0524. The historic house, built in 1835, was a Railroad stop and civic hub, and was the first local NRHP listing.
