Five Californians slain at Santa Cruz hillside home
Eye surgeon Dr. Victor M. Ohta 45, his wife Virginia 43, two sons Derik 12 and Taggart 11, and secretary Dorothy Cadwallader 38 were found shot and bound in the pool area of their $250,000 Santa Cruz home. The house burned down, bodies recovered from pool and surrounding cement, investigators say the killings were likely an execution by more than one person. The crime occurred between 6 and 8 p.m. as authorities searched the hillside locality near Monterey Bay The victims included two young girls away at school and Ohta had served in the Air Force and practiced cataract surgery.
