Four Dead as Freeway Bridge Collapses in Pasadena
Four construction workers killed and two others missing after a north side bridge section gave way during concrete pouring two miles north of the Rose Bowl. Rescue teams recovered another body and continued searching the tangled wreckage as 21 others were injured and authorities warned of further collapse risks. The Senate rejected Nixon authority to cut federal spending and voted 52 to 12 to override his veto of the water pollution control measure.
