Ridgeville planning moves push to restart permits
Kenneth Hamister and James Christie, Ridgeville developers, refiled building permit applications with Building Inspector William Winterfield and the Board of Zoning Appeals for the same projects denied earlier. The action follows Ninth District Court of Appeals ruling denying Pinewood Acres a mandamus to force 304 permits for West Point Homes on Bainbridge Rd, citing an adequate legal remedy via the township appeals board. The ruling also binds a pending Common Pleas case by Sunrise Development for 301 housing units on Jaycox Rd. The dispute centers on Ridgeville’s R3 zoning and quarter-acre lots, recently replaced by half-acre lots to curb rapid growth.

Construction would take about nine months, with bids in a month and eight months for installation. Oberlin officials face a decision as the public utilities commission meets tomorrow to decide how to revamp its water supply.
