Armistice Recess in Korean Prisoner Talks Continues
Armistice delegations sat out a second day of a three day recess in the deadlocked Korean prisoner exchange talks. Lt Gen William K Harrison Jr flew to Tokyo for meetings with Gen Mark Clark. The UN command said the recess was administrative but observers saw it as time for Allied nations to consult on breaking the stalemate. Communist and Allied plans diverge over 43 500 Korean and Chinese prisoners. Communists want the neutral commission to take over all prisoners and use persuasion teams. Allies propose a 60 day handover to a five nation neutral panel for 34 000 Koreans and 14 500 Chinese meanwhile. If this fails Reds would push post armistice political talks. Peiping radio echoed Korea cast.

Woman Is Only Survivor In Plane Crash Near Marshall
Nineteen people died when a Delta-Chicago and Southern Airlines plane crashed about 13 miles east of Marshall Texas. Mrs J W Cox of Panama City Florida was the sole survivor, sustaining serious injuries. The crash followed a brief contact with Shreveport control two minutes before impact as the craft neared land at the Shreveport airport. Rescue teams found wreckage scattered along a wooded area near the Texas Louisiana border. Mrs Cox awoke in a water filled area with a dying man beside her. She suffered head injuries a broken leg and shock but doctors hold out hope. Two others survived initially but died en route or shortly after. Among the deceased: Mrs R H Tincher of near Atlanta Georgia and her son Jesse David.
