Pope John Paul II marks 20 years with prayers request
Vatican report notes John Paul II, 58 when chosen, recalls his papacy from St. Peter's Basilica as about 20,000 Polish pilgrims gather in St. Peter's Square for a Polish mass in his honor. He asks continued prayers to carry out God’s work to the end amid celebrations and reflections on his 1978 election.
